Purple Level

Purple Level maths mastery facts are introduced in Year 6. Ideally, most students will master these facts within the year.   However, provision is made for them to continue to work on them throughout the following years.

Badges include:

Place value Understand the relationship between different place value columns

Negative numbers Order positive and negative integers and position them on a number line in relation to zero

Number properties 1 Define and name prime and composite numbers

Number properties 2  Define and name square and triangular numbers

Ordering Decimals Compare and order decimals up to 3 decimal places.

Fractions Order and simplify fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 100 (E.g. 6/8 .8/12; 40/100 = 2/5)

Percentages  Convert between the following fractions, decimals and percentages. 1/2 = 0.5 = 50%; 1/4 = 0.8 = 4/5; 11/12 = 0.92; 0.75 = 3/4 = 75%

All times tables  Recall multiplication facts up to 12 x 12

All factors Name the factors of whole numbers up to 144 (E.g. 28: 1, 2, 4, 7, 14, 28)

HCF/LCM Determine the Highest Common Factor and Lowest Common Multiple of a pair of numbers

Measurement facts 1 Identify 1m= 10 000cm; 1 ha = 10 000m2 ; 1km2 = 1 000 000m2

Measurement facts 2 Rewrites measurements such as 8.7 L as 8 litres and 700 millilitres. Identify 1 cubic centimetre = 1 millimitre, 1000 cubic centimetres = 1 litre
