Term 1

We have thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the Investigations of our Local Area. The students were able to recognise many of the physical and human features in their locality and understand some of the ways in which these features are used.

In addition, we focused on managed and constructed areas and took a more in depth look at how to draw in detail the Sydney City scape.

We have explored Aboriginal art in response to our shared literacy book, Big Rain Coming and our classroom looks culturally rich with the students’ artwork.

1B students have been very creative! The students constructed their Reef Hats with 4J to make original hats out of recycled goods. They enjoyed this activity immensely.

We have also been experimenting with drawing and produced creative Sydney City Skylines on our first attempt. Stay tuned for some more amazing artwork in the coming week as we experiment with different mediums.

Computer lab

IB are learning to consolidate their computer familiarity by improving browser skills, mouse skills, and keyboard skills. In addition, they are practicing logging into educational online resources that target math and reading skills.

Computer lab time not only is fun but is a lesson in patience and also team work at times!

IB have been incorporating mindfulness into everyday classroom activity for five to ten-minute daily.  Mindfulness practice can see students reduce stress and anxiety, increase concentration and engagement and develop problem-solving and decision-making skills.
